Why We’re Doing This

The dealer relationship is the product.

DealerWorks was built by people who came out of dealerships, not around them. Every rooftop we work with has a story — an owner who’s been in the business three decades, a service team that’s been there since the doors opened, a family name on the sign. That’s easy to lose sight of in payments software.

So instead of another case study, we asked an artist to go paint it.

Teresa Cook is spending the year on the road with us — Nashville, Jacksonville, Miami, and beyond — creating bespoke watercolor pieces on-site at industry events, capturing the people, the teams, and the vehicles that make up the industry’s top performers. It’s a small, human way of saying the relationship matters more than the transaction.

Teresa Cook

Abstract Architectural Watercolor Artist — Jacksonville, FL

Teresa Cook is a Jacksonville, Florida native, born and raised, and a self-taught abstract architectural watercolor artist who has been painting for over 11 years. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Florida in 2012, with a concentration in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking. Her artistic foundation is further informed by her Associate degree in Computer Drafting and Design from ITT Technical Institute in 2007, which fuels her deep appreciation for architecture, landscapes, and structural forms.

Working primarily on Yupo, a non-absorbent surface that resists traditional watercolor control, Cook embraces unpredictability to create layered, atmospheric compositions. Her paintings often depict architectural and urban landscapes devoid of human presence, inviting contemplation of stillness, memory, and the passage of time. Figures emerge selectively within her portraiture practice, as seen in works such as James Baldwin Smoking. Alongside her larger-scale works, Cook produces intimate, mixed-media abstractions incorporating materials such as pastel and gold leaf, expanding her exploration of texture and scale.

Over the past 14 years, Teresa has traveled both internationally and throughout her native city, documenting her experiences through painting. Her travels include Amsterdam for the 2019 Urban Sketchers Symposium and Puerto Rico in 2021, both of which continue to influence her artistic perspective.

Her work is currently on view in multiple exhibitions, including Spaces and Places at the Ritz Theatre, See Jacksonville: Past and Present at the Main Library (3rd Floor), exhibitions at Teresa Cook Art Gallery featuring Around the World, Unclear Narrative: Women Illustrators at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), and Figures, Figures, & Figures at The Art Center Cooperative (TAC). Her past exhibitions include the Ritz Theatre, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, and the Turner Arts Center in Valdosta, Georgia, among others.

She is also an active Art Instructor for both adults and children, teaching at MOCA, the Ritz Theatre, and through virtual sessions on Zoom, as well as privately in her “Back Porch Studio.” In addition to her studio and teaching practice, Teresa can be found at the Riverside Arts Market with her mobile art venture, MINIS in my MINI®, where she sells her tiny artworks from the back of her white MINI Cooper.
